Ridley Scott Storyboards

Ridley Scott is often cited as one of the most visual directors of the last forty years. There is a reason for this: he starts with the storyboards. For him, the images come before the dialogue. What are we going to see?

Ever since his first productions, Ridley has storyboarded himself, to demonstrate to his team everything he wants to put onto the screen. Every shot is there. He even draws additional boards while on set.

Using examples from Alien, Raised by Wolves, Duellists, Bladerunner, G.I. Jane, Hannibal, Robin Hood, Prometheus, Hennessy, The Martian, Covenant, House of Gucci, Last Duel, and Napoleon, Ridley shares his process for storyboarding as a director.
