At the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, the acclaimed director George Lucas took to the stage for an extensive interview about his career for his honorary Palme d’Or.

His career started with the ambitious feature THX-1138, and was soon followed by his breakout success American Graffiti starring a young unknown actor called Harrison Ford.

However, Lucas was determined to push the boundaries of ambition again, with his next feature, Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope. Despite all of the rejections in trying to make it, he persevered. In doing so, Lucas changed the perspective of ambition for everyone as Star Wars went on to become the biggest box office success of all time, up to that point.
